  • Daisy is a researcher and activist committed to analysing and reporting on global women’s rights issues, with a particular focus on violence against women and girls (VAWG) in both physical and digital spaces. With a specialty in feminist criminology, policy analysis, and the evolving nature of gender-based violence, she has explored various aspects of systemic violence, including domestic abuse policy responses in the UK and US, ‘zemiological’ theory of social harms, queer and intersectional feminist criminology.

  • Thisuri was born in Sri Lanka and grew up in Italy and England. She is fluent in English, Italian, and Sinhala, alongside her undergraduate studies in French and German.

    After completing her BA in Modern Languages at the University of Oxford, she attended Sorbonne University in Paris, where she did a study exchange in Politics and Philosophy.

  • Harjas is a journalist for Proxy by IWI, writing on women’s rights issues in South Asia, as well as LGBTQ+ issues. Harjas is a qualified lawyer and a committed advocate for human rights, having worked with various human rights organisations on issues such as as violence against women and girls, reproductive rights, human trafficking, constitutional rights and the rights of children, among others. Harjas’ journalistic style is driven by her passion for women’s rights, strong research and communication skills, and education in law and human rights.

  • Holding a BA in French and History from the University of St Andrews and an MPhil in African Studies from the University of Cambridge, Elizabeth's research has focused primarily on women's literary representation and cultural policy in West and Central Africa. Writing for Proxy by the IWI, Elizabeth hopes to highlight women's literary achievements and investigate definitions of womanhood and femininity to challenge hierarchies.
